This October, the 2024 Tumbarumba Spring Flower Festival marks a milestone as it celebrates its Silver Jubilee!

This October, the 2024 Tumbarumba Spring Flower Festival marks a milestone as it celebrates its Silver Jubilee! It all began 25 years ago in the charming old Tumbarumba Video shop, where a small but passionate Garden Club of just five members (some of whom are still involved today) hosted the very first People’s Choice Flower Show. From these humble beginnings, the festival has blossomed into a beloved community event.

Over the years, the festival has introduced open gardens that have become a highlight of the event. This year, the organisers are thrilled to announce the largest showcase yet, featuring 12 open gardens, including five that have never been seen before. The diversity of the gardens is truly remarkable, with seven extensive country gardens, a high school garden, new town gardens demonstrating the potential of smaller spaces, and a garden lovingly tended by an octogenarian who credits her youthful spirit to her gardening passion. Several gardens are making a comeback, having not been open to the public for at least a decade. The gardens span the beautiful Tumbarumba region, including Laurel Hill, Tooma, and Mannus.

In addition to the stunning gardens, the annual flower show will dazzle attendees with an extensive collection of locally grown flowers. The competition is fierce, the blooms are impeccable, and the colours are simply breathtaking.

The festival also features popular sculpture and photography competitions, both sponsored this year by Snowy Hydro. The sculpture competition, which aligns perfectly with the internationally acclaimed Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail in the region, promises to be a feast for the eyes. The photography competition will include categories designed to inspire and encourage participants of all ages, including special categories for primary and high school students.
